The show Gilligan’s Island has so many interesting characteristics people that amuse you to want to watch more. The rating for the show was 8.7 out of 10 in the late 1960’s.  This television show was on air in the year 1964-1967, channel CBS. It was produced by Sherwood Schwartz. The first episode was aired on September 26, 1964 and the final episode was on September 4, 1967. The show theme song was called “The Ballad of Gilligan’s Isle.” The sad part is that they only made three seasons of it. Now the show is still on but only resumes on Me TV or you can find them on DVDs.

Imagine being stuck on an island with not that much food, electricity, nobody to contact, and no shelter. How will you survive? Well in the show Gilligan’s Island was based on a group who got stuck on an island. They were on a cruise when a huge storm came and got stranded in an abandon island.

In this show has a group of people that played an important role, but you can say Bob Denver also known as Gilligan is the main character. He is the idiot person who always messes things up. He always wears his red shirt, light blue pants, and his white sailor hat. He is very attached to his buddy Skipper.

Jonas Grumby, also known as, Skipper is the captain of the S.S Minnow (ship). His real name is Alan Hale, Jr. He is an over-weight person who tries to find ways to leave the island. Thurston Howell played by Jim Backus is a millionaire who used to the rich life and doesn’t do any work just like his wife Mrs. Howell. Ginger Grant played by Tina Louis is a movie star from Hollywood, and sometimes she uses her acting skills. The professor played by Russell Johnson, Real name is Roy Hinkely. He was a high school teacher, and uses his island. Mary Ann Summers played by Dawn Wells is a farm girl from Windfield, Kansas. She does most of the cooking and laundry.

Out of the three episodes we have watched, our favorite was “Feed the Kitty”. We found it amusing and cute how the lion was attached to Gilligan. In the episode Gilligan heard a “roar” and got scared so he ran to tell skipper. Skipper, Gilligan, and the Professor went hunting for the lion, but it was too late because the girls found it. They trapped it inside the house. Gilligan got scared and went inside the house where the lion was in. Gilligan became too attached to the lion that he didn’t want Skipper to cage him, but at the end he did.

Gilligan’s Island was rated 8.7 out of 10 in the late 1960’s. I think it would appeal merely to the older audience then younger audience today
