Titan+Night

On August 3, 2018 at 6:00 pm, the annual Titan Night started for the Cesar Chavez Football team. Like every year for the last 8 years, CCHS football team showcased their abilities in front of a crowd during their jamboree style scrimmage.

The first two match ups where the JV team against the Freshman team. The JV team took a tough loss against the Freshman with a final score of 28-0. When the JV team played the Varsity team Varsity lost by one touchdown with the final score being 14-7.  Titan Night has been used as a final practice of summer to celebrate the beginning of the new season. some information on a couple of players and a couple of coaches. The Oracle has decided to focus on the following players from the CCHS football family: Kamario Thomas Grey, Willie Turner, John Carey, & George Remero Robinson. Each player was asked a couple questions.

  1. What inspired you to play football?
    • Kamario Grey remarked “My dad inspired me to play football and he taught me the game”
    • Willie Turner answered “My brother, who is currently a varsity player right now, Elijiah Turner inspired me to play.”
    • John Carey bluntly stated, “I want to make it to college with a full ride scholarship just in case football doesn’t work.”
    • George Robinson stated,  “I’ve been playing my this sport my whole life so I really inspired myself to go out there and grind for what I want.”
  2. What positions do you play?
    • Kamario Grey answered with excitement, “Running Back, Quarter Back, Wide Receiver, & Safety and I play Basketball and my position in basketball is Point Guard.”
    • Willie Turner responded with, “Running Back, Quarter Back, Wide Receiver,  Corner Back, and Safety”
    • John Carey added, “I play all across the Offensive Lineman and Defensive Lineman.  I also wrestle and do shot putting.”
    • George Robinson remarked,  “I started off as a lineman and took one year off and lost weight, but now I play Running Back and I’m a BEAST!”

  3. If football doesn’t work what will be your back up plan?
    •  Willie Turner replied with, “If football doesn’t work I want to create my own pop-warner football team.”
    • George Robinson in a calm voice replied,  “I want a degree in journalism or media arts.

The CCHS Football Team can next be seen playing Tokay at the Lodi Grape Bowl on Friday, September 7.
