It’s finally time for Super Bowl Sunday. The San Francisco 49ers take on the Kansas City Chiefs in a rematch of Super Bowl 54 this Sunday at 3:30 P.M in Allegiant Stadium
This Super Bowl will be a rematch of Super Bowl 54 which was won by the Kansas City Chiefs after overcoming a 10-point deficit late in the 4th quarter.
These teams have clawed and brawled their way to this game with the 49ers having 2 come-from-behind victories in both their playoff games and the Chiefs having to hold MVP Lamar Jackson at bay.
There are so many storylines coming into this game so I’ll only list some of them.
Can Kyle Shanahan get the monkey off his back and finally win a Super Bowl?
Can the Kansas City Chiefs repeat for the first time since the New England Patriots in 2004-2005?
Revenge games for Charvaiurs Ward, Jerrick McKinnon, and Richie James.
Can the 49ers defense step up?

Keys to Victory
San Francisco 49ers:
If the San Francisco 49ers want to win their 6th Super Bowl in franchise history and finally get the monkey off of Kyle Shannahn’s back they need to do the following things:
- Start Fast: In the last 2 playoff games that the 49ers have played, they have started slowly forcing them to make a comeback. They need to find rhythm early if they want to win this game. A way to start fast and set the tone is by getting Deebo Samuel involved as he is one of the most versatile players in the NFL.
- Defense Needs to Step Up: This 49ers defense is one of the best in the NFL but they have been inconsistent in the playoffs so far. They need to show that they want this Lombardi if they want to win this game as they face one of the most dangerous Quarterbacks ever. They also need to find a way to stop Mahomes’s famous off-script plays and the way to do that is to not give up on a single down especially Chase Young who has shown a lack of effort recently.
- Keep Your Foot On The Gas At All Times: Kyle Shanahan is known for choking as he was the offensive coordinator when the Atlanta Falcons choked a 28-3 lead in the Super Bowl 51 and he choked a 20-10 lead in the Super Bowl again against this Chiefs team in Super Bowl 54. Now to ensure a way to keep your foot on the gas is by using zone runs as the 49ers are 1st in them and the Chiefs are 31st in defending them and they are one of the worst run defenses in the league so get the lead and RUN THE DAMN BALL.
Kansas City Chiefs:
If the Kansas City Chiefs want to be the NFL’s repeat champions for the first time since the New England Patriots in 2004-2005 they need to do these things:
- Run At Chase Young: Chase Young has shown a lack of effort and you don’t want to run towards Nick Bosa so run at the other person on the edge, Chase Young. I truly believe that Chase Young is a liability unless he steps up which is possible as it is the Super Bowl.
- Contain Brock Purdy: Brock Purdy is no Lamar Jackson, but against the Detroit Lions he did have 5 carries for 48 yards, so it’s best to contain him if possible as you don’t want him leaving the pocket to make a play.
- Force Field Goals: San Francisco is a team you don’t want to get rolling when you face them so a way you want to keep the momentum in your favor is by holding them to just field goals when it gets to that part of the field.
Fan Survey: I asked some students around Chavez who they think is going to win Super Bowl 58 and 66% of students think the San Francisco 49ers will be Super Bowl Champions. The reasons they listed are that Kansas City doesn’t have enough weapons and that the 49ers are a more versatile team.
Prediction: Even though Kansas City are the underdogs I have seen so many people picking them, I am not one of those people. I believe that this game will be as advertised. I think San Francisco starts fast and then Mahomes has to pull off some magic but won’t have enough help from his weapons. I do think Kyle Shanahan gets the monkey off his back and wins his first Super Bowl. The stars will align allowing the San Francisco 49ers to be Super Bowl Champions for the first time since 1995.
