Seniors, Whats Next?

Now that college applications are out of the way now it’s time to worry about how you are going to pay for college. FAFSA is a source to receive financial aid and student aid, including low-cost loans, grants, and work-study. For those who plan on attending college, should apply to FAFSA to determine your eligibility for state and school aid as well. To receive FAFSA you first have to create an account and contact your future college to find out when the deadline is for your applications. Grants from FAFSA are due September 2nd, 2017.

Besides federal money seniors need to be aware of their GPA and classes and you have a certified GPA deadline due March 2nd. All students should make sure they have all of their A-G requirements and have nothing below a C on their transcript requiring entering freshmen to complete certain courses in high school. These courses are called A-G courses because of the letter each subject area is assigned as seen below:

  1. History/Social Science (2 years) b. English (4 years)                c. Mathematics (3 years, UC recommends 4) d. Laboratory Science (2 years, UC recommends 3) e. Language Other than English (2 years, UC recommends 3) f. Visual/Performing Arts (1 year) g. College Preparatory Elective (1 year). All students who plan on going to a CSU.

Seniors should start applying for colleges before getting accepted because there are deadlines for scholarships applications. So, if you have not already applied for Scholarships you need to research scholarships/deadlines in California.

Senior pictures for Chavez students should have already been done. Students who have not finished senior pictures need to contact Prestige Portraits Modesto or Elk Grove. Students who would like to take senior photos outside of the company should contact Mrs. Rivera in E201 before or after school.

The prom theme for 2017 is “old hollywood’” prom will be held on April 29th of 2017 at the Stockton ballroom. More information about prom will be posted closer to date of the event.

Cap and gowns should have already been purchased. In case you have not bought or purchased one you should go through Jostens while you can. Before prices go up. Sneak peek to Grad Night payments ($309.00) are due March 10th of 2017 all payments are done through USA student travel 1-916-939-6805

Senior sunrise will be held May 30th, 2017 for more information it will be announced closer to the date. Graduation will be May 31st, 2017 at the Stockton Arena at 6 p.m.
