Now that college applications are out of the way now it’s time to worry about how you are going to pay for college. FAFSA is a source to receive financial aid and student aid, including low-cost loans, grants, and work-study. For those who plan on attending college, should apply to FAFSA to determine your eligibility for state and school aid as well. To receive FAFSA you first have to create an account and contact your future college to find out when the deadline is for your applications. Grants from FAFSA are due September 2nd, 2017.

Besides federal money seniors need to be aware of their GPA and classes and you have a certified GPA deadline due March 2nd. All students should make sure they have all of their A-G requirements and have nothing below a C on their transcript requiring entering freshmen to complete certain courses in high school. These courses are called A-G courses because of the letter each subject area is assigned as seen below:

  1. History/Social Science (2 years) b. English (4 years)                c. Mathematics (3 years, UC recommends 4) d. Laboratory Science (2 years, UC recommends 3) e. Language Other than English (2 years, UC recommends 3) f. Visual/Performing Arts (1 year) g. College Preparatory Elective (1 year). All students who plan on going to a CSU.
