James Gunn Director of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 1 and Vol. 2

The Guardian’s of the Galaxy have had some pretty tough villains throughout their movies. Such as a mad titan wielding an infinity stone or a celestial planet. But who would’ve thought the greatest enemies of the Guardians would be Disney themselves.

Marvel has helped make The Guardians of the Galaxy a fan favorite to all comic book fans and has spawned at least one sequel. It has become an iconic movie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Though the credit goes to the actors such as Chris Pratt (Star Lord/ Peter Quill), Dave Bautista (Drax the Destroyer), and Vin Diesel (Groot) to name a few. It also wouldn’t have been possible without their director James Gunn, who had been working on Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 until he was recently fired by Disney.

The reason behind Gunn’s firing was due to inappropriate tweets he made on twitter between 2009 and 2010. As soon as these tweets were discovered chairman of Walt Disney Studios Alan Horn stated, “We have severed our business relationship with him.” The effect of Gunn’s firing has affected the entire production of the new movie. Such as Marvel and Disney having to look for a new director and debating on using Gunn’s script that he wrote for the movies plot.

This effect has also made the actors question their roles. The actors and actresses have created a letter on Gunn’s behalf hoping to get him rehired, but sadly that proved to not work. Dave Bautista has also gone as far of wanting to be released from his contract early if Marvel and Disney don’t use Gunn’s script. The movie has now been put on hold and many questions are left unanswered, but all we can hope is that the Guardians can save there franchise.
