Question 1: When is your favorite time of day to create? And when did you start making art?
“Honestly I prefer to draw either midday or late at night. It depends on when I have an idea, but it usually doesn’t turn out as good when I draw at night because I’m tired. So probably midday and I’ve always enjoyed drawing. I’ve never taken classes for it, I’ve just learned from things online and doing things repetitively. I started getting more into it probably around eighth grade and since then I’ve enjoyed it because I’ve gotten better at it and figured out a style.”
Question 2: Describe how art is important to society.
“I think it’s important because it allows people to not only express themselves but it shows other people how they view the world and sometimes it can change the viewer’s perspective on things as well and I think our society would be very bland and sad without art, Art makes the world fun”
Question 3: Do your other interests influence your art?
“Yes, they do. I enjoy nature and seeing God’s hand at work and I do find it inspiring. I also really like the Legend of Zelda games, so style and creativity have definitely influenced me. I also have an interest in psychology and science and learning how things work so that can also influence my art sometimes too.”
Question 4: Tell me about your techniques for overcoming creative blocks.
“I think the best way to do it is to do studies like light or color theory or anatomy studies. When I can’t think of anything original I like to take the time to learn things I don’t know. Also looking up different aesthetics usually inspires me.”
Question 5: What does your artwork represent?
“I mean honestly most of it is meaningless, it’s just fun. I enjoy being creative, figuring out how different colors look together, and making pretty lighting. I enjoy drawing people more than anything else because I feel like I can be more accurately creative. Some of the designs I’ve made are projections of how I wish I looked like having really long red hair and freckles and stuff like that.”
Question 6: What is the biggest challenge of being an artist?
“I think the hardest thing for me is finding time to keep up with it. Even if I don’t have things to do I just don’t always have the motivation but in order to get better you gotta get working at it just like everything else.”
