How to Get a Work Permit

How to Get a Work Permit

Every year high school students are introduced to the workforce. Even 2020, the year of the pandemic, is no different. If you are a student at Cesar Chavez and you have been wondering how to get a work permit, well follow along with some freed advice.

The first thing you’re going to need to do is apply to the jobs of your choice.  Step two is to then wait to receive a call back from said place and to go in for a scheduled interview.

I recommend, for the interview, whether it is virtual or in person to be confident, charismatic, and polite.  After the interview it becomes a waiting game. Often times they will take a week to go over all of the interviews and contact those that will get the job. If you happen to be one that gets the job you’ll have to follow these next couple of steps.

You will have to print out this form: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1aCapGHjS4KrpgTnHv1cJhQX_sWSULKqc/view or you can go during office hours for Mr. Calder to pick it up on campus. Mr. Calder’s office hours run from 11:00 am – 3:00 pm.

You’ll fill out half of the form and the employer will fill out the other half. You will also need to email or call Mr. Calder and let him know you’ll be going for a work permit. Once you go he will take a look at your attendance and grades and if everything looks good you’ll be all set and ready to get your work permit. Then you can earn that money.
