WWE Royal Rumble 2020 Predictions

WWE+Royal+Rumble+2020+Predictions

WWE’s annual pay-per-view, Royal Rumble is coming this Sunday! This show is always one of the most viewed, most highly anticipated shows of each year. People are hoping it will exceed expectations and lead to a very exciting start to the road to Wrestlemania. Below are some predictions as to where the matches on this card may go.

Sheamus vs. Chad Gable

Sheamus is a long time competitor in the WWE. He’s very recently come back from injury with a new look that is very reminiscent of his 2012 get up. Everyone has been very excited to see him come back to the ring. Upon his return, apparently he decided it’d be fun to mess with Chad Gable, so that’s why this match was scheduled. In my opinion, it’s pretty obvious that Sheamus will be picking up the win for this one. I think it’s the best possible outcome since it’d be good for Sheamus to start gathering some momentum for himself as he settles back into the squared circle.

Roman Reigns vs. King Corbin

The feud between Reigns and Corbin has been on going for a few months now and is shamelessly the most boring storyline that is a part of this event. The two have had a few matches along with endless amount of segments on Smackdown. Reigns would usually be the safest bet in a feud like this, but it seems pretty 50/50 this time around. Last time Reigns and Corbin collided at TLC in December, King Corbin actually ended up winning the match. The king has also had an extra set of allies these last few weeks in the forms of Dolph Ziggler and Robert Roode, so it’s possible that he’ll have them in his corner once again. While I’d personally rather have Reigns win the match, it seems like Corbin might best him once again.

Bayley ( c. ) vs. Lacey Evans — Smackdown Women’s Championship

Lacey Evans has been arguing back and forth with Sasha banks for the last month now. Sasha Banks is widely known as Smackdown Women’s Champion and Bayley’s, best friend. Therefore, it’s not surprising that she’d have to get involved sooner or later. Bayley will defend her Smackdown Women’s Championship against Lacey Evans at Royal Rumble. The pair and Lacey have had a decent back and forth the last few weeks, Banks profusely made fun of Lacey Evans and her daughter and eventually it led to Evans and Bayley having a match, somehow. There are high hopes for this match. Lacey has improved a significant amount during the last few months, in ring as well as on the mic, so the match should be entertaining nonetheless. I think that Bayley will definitely retain her title here, and I wouldn’t be surprised if she kept it until Wrestlemania.

Andrade ( c. ) vs. Humberto Carillo — United States Championship

This match is expected to be very fun. Andrade and Carillo are two very talented competitors that always put on some amazing matches, so seeing them in the ring together again is very exciting. Their feud has been quite fun, but not too intense. Andrade and his partner, Zelina Vega, can entertain wherever they go and I’d like to see Andrade be champion for a long time. However it goes, I’ll be happy with the result and I’m sure the match will be very enjoyable, but I think Andrade retaining is the best bet.

‘The Fiend’ Bray Wyatt ( c. ) vs. Daniel Bryan — Universal Championship

Most people are really looking forward to this match. It happens to be a rematch, but Wyatt and Bryan can always put on an amazing show. Bray Wyatt’s “The Fiend” character is definitely the most popular character in wrestling right now and is seen as the modern day Undertaker. He never fails to get fans excited for the story lines he takes part in and he’s very exciting to watch in the ring as well. Daniel Bryan has also always been a huge fan favorite since he’s very talented. So, it’s no surprise that this is one of the most highly anticipated matches of the night. The Fiend is most likely going to prevail over Bryan this Sunday, though.

Becky Lynch ( c. ) vs. Asuka — Raw Women’s Championship

Becky vs. Asuka is another fan favorite pick for match of the night. While this feud only began a few months ago, it’s really been building for a while now once you look closer. Asuka and her tag team partner, Kairi Sane, had been harassing Raw Women’s Champion, Becky Lynch, since October. They faced off at TLC for the Women’s Tag Team Championships, Lynch getting the help of Charlotte Flair, with Kairi and Asuka emerging victorious. Lynch then decided she needed to settle a personal debt with Asuka, since Lynch has never been able to defeat Asuka one on one. The match was scheduled, and people are now losing their minds. No one can predict how this one will go. If it were up to me, Asuka would definitely take the win, but it’s really hard to determine considering how powerful Becky Lynch is at the moment. If I had to pick a side for this one, I’d choose Asuka.

Men’s Royal Rumble

The two royal rumble matches are especially hard to predict. For the men’s match, though, most of the entrants have been announced, so it narrows it down quite a bit. Something unusual about this match is that the WWE champion himself, Brock Lesnar, will be entering the match as well. Instead of defending his title. If Lesnar won, it’d be a huge mistake. Let’s just put it like that. There are a lot of rumors saying that Roman Reigns might win this year, but I have my doubts about that one. While it would be nice to see him get success, we’ve all seen it in the past for Reigns and it’s definitely not needed. He’ll probably get a match at Wrestlemania just for standing there, anyway. My personal prediction for the winner is Drew Mcintyre. He’s also a popular theory among fans, and it’s actually an agreeable one. He’s been getting a lot of screentime, he’s called out the champion, he’s proved how talented he is. Mcintyre winning would be an incredible breakout moment to see. That’s what many people are hoping for, and he’s my prediction as a winner for this match.

Women’s Royal Rumble

Only about six women have been announced for the Women’s Royal Rumble match at the time of writing this, so it’s a bit harder to predict who’ll get their moment. One popular theory is former NXT Women’s Champion, Shayna Baszler. People think she’ll win the rumble and then go on to challenge Becky Lynch for the Raw Women’s Championship at Wrestlemania. While this is a good theory and I can see it happening, I don’t know if I want to. Baszler and Lynch are two very talented women, but they can both be kind of boring and… exhausting to watch after a while. Another popular theory is Sasha Banks. I personally think that Sasha is the best choice to win this match. It could lead to a very interesting match up of Sasha Banks vs. Bayley at Wrestlemania. A lot of people really want them to recreate their match from 2015 of Banks vs. Bayley at NXT Takeover: Brooklyn, but with different circumstances this time. Many people see their first match as a huge milestone for women’s wrestling and would love to live that moment again in the form of a rematch. Banks is definitely my pick for the Women’s Royal Rumble winner.
