After much debate, the second trailer for Sonic the Hedgehog (2019) was released to the public. In contrast to the first trailer however, the reviews were extremely positive. You may be thinking, “Why the sudden change of heart?” Well, if you watched the new trailer, you can see the drastic improvements to the animation, especially the Sonic character model.

When the first trailer was released back in April, the amount of backlash received was enough to reach Paramount, the studio in charge of the film. Paramount decided to push the original release date all the way to February 2020 in order to reanimate the issues that were brought up. The original Sonic design seemed “too realistic” according to many, so the change from realistic to a more cartoon version was for the better.
