The recipe is : season both sides of hamburger patties with salt and pepper and cook on griddle for 3-5 minutes. Spread 1 1/2 teaspoons of mustard on the top, uncooked side of each patty and flip. Top patty with cheese and allow to cook until desired doneness. Add hamburger to bun and top with caramelized onion.

The beginning

In 1948, Harry and Esther Snyder opened the first In-N-Out Burger. Harry was a World War II veteran, he was working as a caterer when he met Esther a waitress at a restaurant where Harry used to eat. They moved down to California together in 1948. They got a crazy idea to start quaint little burger stand of their own across the street where Harry grew up. In -N- Out was the first drive through restaurant in California They served the freshest burgers, best shakes, and the hottest fries in a extremely clean atmosphere. The times have not changed at In-N-Out. The menu is still the same basic menu but amazing, the customers have enjoyed since 1948. They have been serving everything up the same exact way: fresh, made to order and with only the highest quality ingredients. In 1954 In-N-Out updated their logo and in 1961 the animal burger was remade. The chain is currently headquartered in Irvine, California. In-N-Out Burger has expanded outside Southern California into the rest of California, as well as into Arizona,Nevada, Utah, Texas and recently Oregon. The current owner is Lynsi Snyder, Harry’s granddaughter. She is Americas youngest billionaire, escaped two attempted kidnappings and is the crew chief of a drag racing team.
