CCHS Crowns Homecoming Royalty

Homecoming week is arguably the most exciting week throughout the year. There’s spirit days, the big football game, and of course the dance. However, the best and most memorable part of homecoming week is the crowning of homecoming king and queen.

The winners of Cesar Chavez High School’s homecoming king and queen were announced on Saturday during halftime at the Titan varsity football game versus the Vallejo Red Hawks. All of the candidates hard work and weeks of campaigning lead up to that one, very special moment. And this years homecoming king and queen is:

Robert Aguilar and Kristy Vang!

1Q03009Robert Aguilar is a free safety for the varsity football team and a member of Cesar Chavez’s student government. He is also co-president of True Titans. Aguilar said when he was on the field waiting for them to announce homecoming king the only thing going through his mind was “I hope I win.” He said if it wasn’t him that won he would’ve wanted his best friend Will Lauder to be crowned homecoming king. “It feels great to be homecoming king although it’s really not that exciting to be honest, but I’m glad that a lot of people voted for me.”

Kristy VangKristy Vang is senior class president and is also actively apart of various clubs. She is president of Friday Night Live and vice president of Key Club. Vang also participates in National Honors Society, MESA, Filipino Club, and plays for the golf team.”Before the crowning ceremony all the queen candidates talked about how much fun we all had and we’d be happy for whoever wins,” she said. While she was standing on the field waiting to for them to announce homecoming queen, Vang said she felt, ” a little scared and nervous, but at the same time happy because of my conversation with the queen candidates earlier.” She said she would have wanted her best friend Samantha Vazquez to win. “I personally would want Samantha to win because she is senior class vice president and I feel she is very capable.” Vang says “I didn’t think I was going to win but it’s a great feeling knowing my peers voted for me. I feel proud to represent my class.”

Fernando AlvaradoFernando Alvarado, a senior apart of the Law & Order SLC, voted for both Aguilar and Vang. “I voted for them because I felt they put-forth the most effort,” Alvarado said. “Although I do not know them personally, I have always seen them around school helping others out.”
