Stephen Glass was a notable journalist that worked for The New Republic. He was 25 when he wrote many articles that he made up at The New Republic. He then got fired and is currently living in California trying to become lawyer.

“Everything around him turned out to be incredibly vivid or zany in some other way memorable and at meetings, we used to wait for Steve’s turn, so that he could report on his next caper. We got really suckered.” -Says Wieseltier (60 minutes)

Brian Williams is a news caster and the managing editor of NBC Nightly News. In 2003 Williams claims that the helicopter he was riding on was forced down by an rpg and gunfire. Apparently that never happened but his pilot, Rich Krell, said his chopper and the other two were under small gunfire.

“Yeah Williams messed up somethings and said somethings he shouldn’t have… After awhile with combat stories, you just go ‘whatever’.” -Rick Krell (CNN)

Janet Cooke is a journalist that won a Pulitzer Prize in 1998 for an article written for The Washington Post.The story was later discovered to have been fabricated. Cooke resigned and returned the prize.
