Chris Watts, a 33-year-old Colorado man, murdered his pregnant wife, Shanann Watts, and their 2 young daughters, Bella and Celeste, in August 2018.

Watts strangled Shannan and smothered his daughters, Bella, 4, and Celeste, 3, before disposing of their bodies in oil tanks near his workplace. He denied involvement but later confessed to the crimes.
It was later revealed that during the investigation, Watts was found having an affair with coworker Nicol Kessinger.
He pleaded guilty to the nine charges on November 6, 2018, including first-degree murder, and was sentenced to life in prison without parole. He is currently serving at the Dodge Correctional Institution in Wisconsin.
Watt’s motives remain unclear, but investgators beleive his affairs played a role.
What we do know: if Nicole Atkinson, Shannan’s best friend, hadn’t called the police when there were no answers or text messages from Shannan, or if she hadn’t missed her doctor’s appointment, Chris Watts might have gotten away with it.
Nicole gave the police some major clues that led them to question Chris’s story. She pointed out that Shannan would never walk out without her phone, purse, or the girls’ car seats, which immediately raised Chris’s suspicion.
