Hey Titans! Welcome back to the new school year at Cesar Chavez High School. We will be interviewing one of this year’s Football Players! We want to see how they will tackle and overcome the massive obstacle of surpassing their previous season’s performance, when they were league champions.
For this interview, we are with Chavez senior wide receiver Arron Mitchell.
As the school is aware, the football team was crowned undefeated league champions last year, going 7-0 in league play, with their championship game being against McNair. The football team was able to score a touchdown during the last minutes of the game, making the score 26-18, securing the win as League Champions.
Q: “Who is your coach?”
Arron: “Coach Graves.”
Q: “Is there any unique information about this coach, information that makes him 1 of 1?”
Arron: “He’s willing to do anything to win, you know?, If it’s taking care of his players, he’s on it in a heartbeat; if someone needs something, he’s there, really just an all-around good person and coach with a lot of information under his belt.”
Q: Are there any designated captains yet?
Arron: “No, not yet.”
Q: “Who are the players to watch this season?”
Arron: “Makana Smith has shown a lot of growth and improvement throughout the summer. Jackson Batch, is very young, but also a very talented receiver. Our Quarterback, Elijah Walker. He is astute when it comes to the game, knowledgeable in tight situations overall, and very composed; he knows how to react quickly and precisely. Finally, Joel, the running back, has extremely elite speed; he’s more like you need at least two people to take him down. I’ve never seen him go down on the very first tackle.”
Final Question: What is the next step to being better than last season?
Arron: “I think for now it’s mental. It’s mental about really wanting it and being the best.” That concludes our Pre-Season interview of the year 2025-2026. There will be more to come as the season develops.
Titnas! Stay tuned for our league champion football players. I will keep you guys updated throughout the season.
As the football team advances to its first game on Friday, August 22, 2025, it begs the question: Will this be their opportunity to set the tone for the rest of the season?
Their first game this season is against Pacheco. Arron Mitchel thinks they can pull it off as a team after reviewing footage of the Pacheco team.
Titans! If you are interested in football, whether you want to watch or play, Practice starts at 3:45 in the weight room located at the end of the M wing, then they transition to the field at 5. ATTENTION: If you still want to play football, you need a physical and be registered on Family ID.
