LaMelo Ball has undoubtedly been balling out in the 2021 season and should clearly be the rookie of the year. LaMelo is averaging an impressive 15.7 pts, 6 rebs, and 6 assist. Anthony Edwards is also in the ROTY talk with his crazy build, athleticism, and his great ability to finish at the rim. Lamelo though has been a consistent team player as seen in his stats in-game as well as his amazing passes, spacing the floor, and helping his team

LaMelo compared to his brother Lonzo is already better than him currently. Lonzo is avg 14pts, 4reb, and 5 assist. While Lonzo has been in the league for almost 5 years LaMelo is still averaging higher in his rookie season. LaMelo is the youngest player to put up a triple-double. Not just that he’s a great team player, but his humbleness speaks volumes to his teammates. In his triple double game when he had this to say afterwards, “Yeah, we won the game and that’s all that matters.”

Since the start, he has shown that he is a great point guard and not just for a rookie. The Hornets got a good point guard that should be able to lead them into the playoffs. The Hornets record isn’t too bad at 16-18 and LaMelo didn’t start for the first 20 games. In his first starting game against the Heat, the Hornets won. From the stats to the highlights LaMelo is looking like a very promising player.

Another player that is getting some acknowledgment for ROTY is Anthony Edwards. However, at the end of the day, it’s going to come down to votes and who the NBA community really wants. Although Edwards has been putting up great numbers and impressive plays such as the dunk against the Hawk’s titled Bleacher Report Dunk Of The Year. He is inconsistent and inefficient and he takes several bad shots that don’t just affect him, but the team as well. His defense is lacking in some areas as well.
