Cross country runs in for the finish line

New coach brings marathon experience.

Fall is around the corner and with fall comes, Cross Country. When someone hears the word “Running” they turn the other way and while other people don’t even call it running they call it their “Sport”.

Recently the Cross Country team just got a new coach. She is known as a teacher named Ms. Monroe, who works on Cesar Chavez High School campus. Monroe has never coached a Cross Country team before but she does like to run for fun. She runs in many marathons and she competes in many adult races.

“The returning players are very helpful and show me the different runs,”  Monroe said about being a new coach for cross country this season.

As a returning runner for two years, Adan Alvarez, senior, loves cross country because he like to run, and it helps him get in shape. He also likes to be a part of Cesar Chavez High and support his school. His goal this season is to  improve his time to under 20 minutes and get an athletics award.

“I’m looking forward to a great season with the cross country team this year!” said Monroe.
