The game is very entertaining and scary, especially when played in the dark, and all the Five Nights at Freddy´s games are perfect. However, the one I’m reviewing is the original FNAF game, which is an old game. The genre of the game is a horror video game franchise that has captivated gamers since its debut in 2014. It revolves around the ominous Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza, where animatronic characters come to life at night, creating a terrifying experience for players.
The game is based on Chuck E. Cheese, in a way, and not at the same time, because Chuck E. Cheese had animatronics back then; a person would be a night guard for the pizza. Five Nights at Freddy’s (FNAF) is set in a fictional restaurant called Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza, located in the town of Hurricane, Utah.
The game follows the protagonist, Mike Schmidt, as he works the night shift as a security guard and must survive the animatronics that roam the restaurant after hours.
The Game was set in 1993, and the developer is Scott Cawthon and Scott Games. The kind of people who would enjoy these games are those who enjoy suspenseful, atmospheric horror games with a focus on resource management and anticipation.
The publisher is Scottgames LLC, and in my opinion, the game’s rating is quite good, making it enjoyable to play. The game features a “sit and survive” gameplay style, where the player is confined to an office and cannot move.
It was inspired by a desire to create smaller, shorter games, following struggles with larger projects. Scott aimed for the game design so that the players would be immediately immersed in the experience. The other main characters are Freddy, Bonnie, Chica, Foxy, Puppet, and Golden Freddy. They are the animatronics that come after you in the game.
The mechanics revolve around monitoring security cameras, managing limited power, and using doors and lights to defend against the animatronics. He also intended for the animatronics to have distinct behaviors, although most of their movement occurs off-screen, in the graphics of the game.
The first FNAF game utilizes pre-rendered graphics, which means the visuals are essentially static images that switch between different views, creating the illusion of movement without demanding intensive graphics processing. This approach, while technically simple, effectively creates a sense of being trapped and vulnerable within the game world.
The Music of the game, the famous “Toreador March” played by Freddy, for instance, is a sample from “1905 Regina Music Box: Classical Overture”. This suggests a practical approach to music inclusion rather than a detailed, intentional musical composition for the game itself.
The story Five Nights at Freddy’s begins with Mike Schmidt listening to a voicemail from his unnamed predecessor at the start of his first shift. Similar messages play on the following nights, in which the employee tells Schmidt about the restaurant and its history.
The story is about a murder and a pizza place owner named William D. Afton, who killed kids and put their bodies in the animatronics, and the souls of the kids possess the animatronics. They go after the night guard because they think he is who killed them when he didn´t kill them at all.
The controls in the game include Cameras: Clicking on the monitor to navigate through different camera feeds, and Doors and Lights: clicking on the corresponding buttons to close doors or turn on lights. Additionally, the mouse is used to look around, flip through the cameras, and manage the doors and lights. To look around, move the mouse to the edges of the screen. To open the camera, press the “A” button. To view the left and right doors, use the left and right mouse buttons, respectively. To activate the lights, use the left and right mouse buttons, respectively.
The things I liked about the game are that it was fun and good to play, and it was a bit scary when I first got jumpscared, but after a while, it isn´t as frightening. The things I didn´t like were the repetitive gameplay, long night durations, and the lack of variety or replayability. The reliance on limited power and constant camera monitoring, coupled with the predictable animatronic movements, can lead to periods of boredom.
I certainly advise you to go and play this game if you haven´t played it before. It is the best horror game that I have ever seen or played. I would give this game a 10/10.
