Make Free Condoms Available in School

Like it or not, a fair percentage of students are getting pregnant in high school. And, regardless of age many students have sex without condoms.

This results in 3 in 10 teen American girls will get pregnant at least once before age 20. What we need is for the school to give out free condoms to high school students.

We will have free condoms in the Health Office. We will not notify your parents if given by the Health Office. The reason we encourage you to get condoms is save you and your mate from pregnancy or diseases. We are not encouraging to have sex but whether teens sex is wrong or not, it’s happening.

This idea has been mentioned before, but opponents have argued that somehow it would encourage students to have sex. We think this is nonsense. Due to students being themselves and acting on their terms and no one else’s. If the opponents really cared about teens and their safety they would enforce our solution also. Students are getting pregnant at a young age and giving up on education. And President Obama once said, giving up on your education is giving up on your self.

Many young people engage in sexual risky behaviors that can result in unintended health outcomes. Studies show in the U.S in 2013 students were surveyed and 46.8%  are who had ever had sexual intercourse. 39.0% had sexual intercourse during the previous three months  and of these 40.9% did not use a condom the last time they had sex, 15.0% had sex with multiple people.

Do you think we should have available free condoms at school for anyone?

I think it is a great idea because then students won’t get pregnant and they’ll stay in school.

Giving out condoms at schools, is not an ideal situations, but we believe it will solve more problems instead of create life long problems. Legislation should be passed by SUSD, so that Cesar Chavez High School can dodge pregnancy.
