Hello Titans, it is time to meet another teacher whom I appreciate. Meet Cecilia Calderon or Ms. Calderon. She teaches Spanish, ELD, and, of course, Mexican American History. She has taught at Chavez for 6 years and is the advisor for the Mexican American History Club and Danzantes de Chavez, aka the Folklorico club from E123.
She earned her Bachelor’s in Spanish Pedagogy and her Master’s in Education from the University of the Pacific, along with an additional Master’s in Spanish from Idaho State University. She represents Arizona State University!
Her favorite activities during high school were marching band, color guard, soccer, and dancing. She also participated in clubs and activities like Key Club, Circle of Friends, MESA, AVID, GSA, and MeCHA.
Her best advice came from Ms. Fox, who said to her, “Más sabe el diablo por viejo que por diablo,” or, in English, “The devil knows more because he is old, than because he is the devil.”
If she had a superpower, she would have teleportation because she wants to go to places with an airport without packing or stress.
In the end, she is very kind, friendly, down-to-earth, and smart. If you need help, she will help you with anything. She always puts a smile on her face and encourages her students to do better. Gracias, Ms. Calderon, for inspiring us all to do better for Cesar Chavez High School.
