The 20th Annual Historically Black Colleges & Universities Recruitment Fair is coming back to Stockton, California. This Wednesday, September 11, 2019, Edison High School will be hosting the 2019 HBCU Recruitment Fair. It is open to Stockton area school district students ONLY. Students at Cesar Chavez will be taking the U-Can field trip to the high school from 9:00a.m. – 1:00p.m. Those who were already looking forward to coming have registered online at www.gotocollegefairs.com. When you begin to register you get the chance to see how developed the fair is. Stockton is not the only place the fair is offering students these chances, they have wide spread of cities across California.

U-CAN is an amazing network that provides leadership services and college preparation assistance to students who want to enroll in four-year colleges. They have a main focus to admissions for America’s widespread of over 100 Historically Black Colleges and Universities. They give assistance to high school students and their families in some of the ways listed below:

    • Recruitment, Support and Resource Information

    • Student& Parent Consultation and Workshops

    • Course Selection and Career Development Assistant

    • College Preparedness

    • SAT/ACT Testing Preparedness

    • Admission/Scholarship Eligibility Consultation

    • Review of Transcripts

    • Financial Aid and Scholarships

    • Housing Assistance

    • Personal Counseling/Support Services

    • Annual College Fair

The opportunity this fair is providing for students is exceptional. High school students have the chance to learn what HBCUs have to offer. According to their page you get the chance to “speak with 30-40 different HBCUs representing hundreds of majors and professional degrees” as well as get help on application fee waivers. Not only will that be provided, but some of the bigger things like “on the spot admissions from selected colleges, if qualified” and scholarships will be awarded if you also qualify. There will be a variety of over 55 schools there offering these opportunities. Schools like Alabama A&M University, Clark Atlanta University, Hampton University, Morehouse University, and Tuskegee University.

Seniors attending should bring copies of:
