Chavez Titans face off against Lodi Flames in varsity football.

Last Friday, September 6,  Chavez football team landed their first Loss against the undefeated Lodi High Flames. It was evident from the excitement in the crowd that CCHS was ready as they waited for kickoff.  The Chavez Titans came out strong prepared for the game, but in the end it just wasn’t enough. The Lodi Flames emerged victorious in a game that featured more than five Chavez contributors sidelined with various injuries.

The game ended with a score of 21-0, with all touchdowns being scored in the first half. The Titans felt unlucky to have lost a game without key core players/starters, which could have changed the outcome of the game from the start. Coach Chicago reiterated the pain the injuries caused the team, but also gave props to Lodi for coming to play hard. “Injuries definitely hurt us with key starters unable to go for us, but hat’s off to Lodi. They came to play and had a well thought out and disciplined game plan that they stuck to.” With this being the first loss for the Titans they now find theme-selves getting ready for their next match up which will be against Tokay High at Cesar Chavez High Stadium. The Tokay Tigers are 1-2 and will come in search of a win, but the Titans will be ready to turn away the Tigers. Coach Chicago added, ” I feel sorry Tokay to be coming into our house after that tough loss from last week.”
