David J. Ramirez

David J. Ramirez  was killed April 17, 2014. Seventeen-years-old and a senior at Cesar Chavez High School, David was enjoying a short morning run before school when he was hit by a suspected drunk. David had been planning on running in a half marathon in May and had been training since winter break. David was one mile from his house when the accident occurred. David’s mother was concerned when he didn’t return home at the expected time in order to be ready for school, so she drove the route he normally ran and was the one who found him. The police are still looking for the driver and they believe that alcohol, distracted driving and speed were factors based on evidence at the scene and witness statements.

David was a member of the cross country team, M.E.Ch.A., CAST, AVID, and Friday Night Live. He enjoyed playing football and basketball with friends. David had plans of attending a four-year college in the fall.

David is survived by his mother Elizabeth Zarmdio, siblings Anthony, Arianna, and Natalie and grandparents Teresa Zarmido, Maria Aviza and Juan Ramirez.

A memorial service will be held at Cesar Chavez High School on April 21, 2014, at 3:30 p.m.

David will be remembered for being a great person and will be missed by all.
