Linux distros are fun to explore the layout and can bring a new life to your old computer. However, not all Linux distros are fun and safe. One Linux distro not only has the same design as Windows 11, but it is also dangerous and a copyright infringement. This is Wubuntu.
Wubuntu is a Linux distro that uses the exact same layout as Windows 11. Many in the community refer to it as the copycat distro. Wubuntu’s installation requirements are light compared to Windows 11. It is made by a Brazilian company that also made a similar distro called Linux Fx.
Linux Fx is a distro that mirrors Windows precisely and is similar to Wubuntu but with a different background. Around early 2022, Linuxfx suffered a data leak, and it was found that Linuxfx was collecting users’ data and even spying on them. They also lied that one million people downloaded them, even though it was disproven.
Wubuntu is also violating several copyright laws, including the Microsoft Windows trademark and Canonical trademark, by using Ubuntu without being affiliated with them or having permission.
Similar to Kubuntu, it uses the KDE plasma desktop to make it Windows 11, meaning it has some KDE content like KDE connect and KDE partition manager. They also have steam.exe preinstalled, claiming that Windows apps are compatible with Wubuntu.
There is a free version and a paid license version. The paid version has an Android emulator and game support, even though all Linux distros can be installed. You can modify most settings with the paid version, but any Linux distro can do it. Many paid options can already be done with a fully fledged Linux distro.
Overall, it is a bad idea to try this distro because it may be spying on and tracking you and is illegal in its own right. The best Linux distro to try if you want to have some Windows-like experience is Zorin OS.
