Have you ever wondered why you feel so tired after drinking an energy drink? Like sleepy and exhausted when it’s supposed to do the opposite? Well, this is actually due to the amount of sugar it holds. It’ll give you the effect for an hour or so; then, you’ll have a sugar crash, meaning that the sugar it holds lowers your blood pressure and makes you feel fatigued.
However, it can also be due to your anxiety; when you’re anxious, you’re all over the place. Drinking an energy drink makes that feeling of being nervous go away, like cooling your body down; this leads to calming your ADHD down even if you don’t have any of its undiagnosed ADHD due to studies.
In other words, after drinking Red Bull or any type of caffeine, you have a headache, which leads to shutting down and being sleepy. Your system is all over the place running around, and as soon as there’s caffeine in your body, your system slows down, calming you down and preventing you from being so anxious. Sometimes, being too anxious with caffeine makes you shut down.
Energy drinks can cause heart attacks, diseases, dehydration, insomnia, an extra amount of sugar, headaches, anxiety, and so much more stuff, but did you know it can also affect someone’s mental health, causing extreme anxiety and depression? Having too much caffeine can also increase someone’s ADHD if they are diagnosed, making them worse than they were.
Not all drinks contain the same amount of caffeine; the highest energy drink with caffeine is ‘Celsius Heat’ with 300 Milligrams of caffeine, with Bang energy drinks and ‘Rockstar Xdurance’ being also 300 mg. Containing a lot of caffeine can cause a literal heart attack. Back in 2018, in a review of scientific journal articles, researchers identified 98 reported deaths from caffeine overdose. Death from too much caffeine is rare but possible.
Coffee can kill due to its amount of Caffeine; why is that? Having a routine every morning, such as drinking a cup of coffee, is normal, but having too many cups is not. According to The Mayo Clinic, you shouldn’t consume more than 500 to 6000 milligrams of caffeine daily. Side effects can occur if you drink too much and can cause insomnia, restlessness, nausea, irregular heartbeat, muscle tremors, anxiety, and headaches.
In a case published by Swedish physicians in a 2010 issue of Acta Anesthesiologic, Scandinavica, a 21-year-old woman went into cardiac arrest shortly after consuming about 10,000 mg of caffeine; she was resuscitated by ventricular a few times; she stopped responding to medication three days later.
So, next time you think of drinking an energy drink, think of the amount of caffeine it contains and what would happen. I’m not saying drinking Caffeine is terrible the most, and the safest a human body can drink up to is 400 milligrams a day. Once again, too much caffeine can lead to death, which might be rare, but it is possible.
