Star Wars Battlefront 2004 was a success and sold over 4 million copies. Many people loved the game because it was the first of the series and fun. LucasArts game production made a sequel called Star Wars Battlefront 2 (2005).
Star Wars Battlefront 2 (2005) was released on October 28, 2005. Unlike the first game, the second battlefront game has a narrative campaign called the 501st campaign, or the rise of the empire. It gives you 18 missions to play, though. This campaign is an alternative to the mainline Star Wars Movies because they ultimately wiped out the rebels and strengthened their control of the galaxy, thanks to the 501st Legion.
The PSP version replaces the campaign with three single-player Challenge modes: Imperial Enforcer, Rogue Assassin, and Rebel Raider. These mini-missions are short missions but can be fun.
This game also introduced a heroes mode in which you can control Jedi or Sith and try to wipe each other out. It was a pretty cool game, and it was implemented in future battlefront games.
Battlefront 2 (2005) was a critical and commercial success. Critics rated it as the best classic battlefront game ever, and it sold 6 million copies on the Xbox, PS2, Windows, and PSP.
GameSpy shut down the multiplayer game Star Wars Battlefront 2 after announcing that all their game servers would be shut down. EA would extend it until June 30, 2014, when all of the servers of the Classic Battlefront would be shut down. Battlefront 2 was rereleased to the general public for PC users with Steam or GOG. The multiplayer service of the PC will be restored in 2017 when it is rereleased.
Overall, battlefront 2 propelled the Star Wars Battlefront series and made the genre popular.
