No Thanksgiving break (h)

October 24, 2022
School for the Stockton Unified District started a new year a little earlier than most. August 1st was the day we began the 2019-2020 school year. The official last day of the school year is May 27th. To some students, the school can take forever to go by or it can zoom past. There are students who feel that “this school year has more days than the previous years.” Then there are parents and students from other districts who feel that our district, “isn’t in school enough.”
We recently just finished the first semester of the school year ending with our yearly fall break in October. Stockton Unified School District usually receives multiple times off throughout the year to give students their vacation and holiday breaks. Due to all the complaints and problems with the amount of time off we are getting the district is canceling the extended Thanksgiving Break we usually give. The week of November 25th – November 29 will no longer be given to us as time off. Since Thanksgiving is a holiday we will be receiving that Thursday and Friday only. But it has been finalized by an SUSD administrator that, “SUSD students are no longer going to be receiving the whole week off. We want them in school learning.”
Ladies and gentlemen of CCHS. If you and your family had a plan on site for the week of Thanksgiving, plans will have to change. The good thing is, you will at least have a four-day weekend.
